Celiac disease is a genetic autoimmune disease that requires a strict gluten-free diet, and follow-up care with a knowledgeable physician. Celiac disease is diagnosed by a celiac disease blood test to screen for the disease, and an upper endoscopy and biopsy to diagnose celiac disease.
Gluten sensitivity is a sensitivity to gluten, although there is no current test to diagnose gluten sensitivity, rather a process of elimination after being screened for celiac disease and an IgE wheat allergy.
